Being creative, my novel, and writing

    Being creative

These last few weeks my novel has ground to a halt. I know that I need to work out my characters and how they change through the story. I need to continue to be creative and work out the location where it is set. For now, I know it’s set on an old farm but I need to work it out properly.

I have been advised to get an easel and a large pad of paper and draw a diagram or flow chart. This does make sense, it’s just doing it. I’m good at lists but the diagram would be more visual. I think I need a writing room, a room where I can stick notes and paper over the walls, like you might see on television. Scrolls of paper and space where I could create my world., Yes, I can dream, maybe I could make the children share a bedroom, but I can imagine the mighty mess and the noise. The chatting and playing at night, they are difficult enough in separate rooms, let alone altogether.

So, for now I have been working on a paranormal story for an anthology. If I was attempting NaNoWriMo then right now I would be failing.

    Reading

I finally finished GX Todd – Hunted, just in time for the publication of the next part, Survivors. I am trying to concentrate on one book at a time but yesterday morning I was crying to Esther Chilton’s – A walk in the woods, on my kindle. Yes, my kindle can go anywhere and can be read in the dark. Survivors is a heavy hard back book, hence not practical for carrying to meetings or places where I will be waiting for a while.

The Time Travellers wife remains sitting pretty next to my bed. One day soon I really do hope to read it. For now, it has joined my pile as I’m really enjoying Gemma Todd’s voices series.

My eight year old’s school reading book today was quite gruesome, would you rather eat ‘Foie Gras’ or ‘Tripe’? Or ‘Witchety grub’ or ‘Mopane Grub’? We learnt in Kenya and Tanzania that people will put a straw in a live cows neck and drink its blood.  He said, “Yuck mummy, I don’t want to read this.”  An interesting book but disgusting, I’m glad that I live in the UK.

    Children

We found out yesterday that our eight-year-old is having a poem published in an anthology book. Written at school, it will be published by ‘‘Young Writers’. The book will be called ‘Poetry Monsters – Monstrous Mayhem’. He is very excited and feeling proud of himself, he is especially happy to be published in a book before me. I have now learnt that young writers can do their own NaNoWriMo. I think it’s wishful thinking to believe that he might forsake Roblox for NaNoWriMo, maybe in a few years. However, I will mention the website to him, he might like to spend time being creative online.

My daughter continues to be creative and artistic, thankfully on paper this week. I ordered the ‘Magic Faraway tree’ for her, as mentioned in last week’s Facebook Live. Looking through it, the full story seems to be there, but with the names changed. After Christmas my 1970s version will be safer, so far, she has written in it and pulled some pages out. This was after noting, “mummy, someone’s drawn in the book and it wasn’t me.” Case of like mother, like daughter as I’m sure the people drawn on the inside cover of the book were created by me with a biro, oops.

    Facebook live

Here are my Facebook Live for last week.

Two new blog posts and updated Enid Blyton books – 29th October 2019

New blog post today – 1st November 2019

    Today and life – 5th November 2019

    Today

Usually a Tuesday is my day off, this week I had to switch my day. Hence, today I have been working which is why this blog post and my Facebook Live are late today. It’s also why I’m feeling exhausted as I type.

I now need to catch up on my other blog and shares. Blogging and keeping up with writing is a lot of work.  Hopefully tomorrow evening I will be able to concentrate more on my anthology story.
